Music for Airports, 1/2

What you want on a plane is to be able to surrender

Like it’s ok if I disappear

There’s a lot of beautiful life going on here

Even without me

If I go suddenly I won’t be troubled by

Ending it right

I won’t have to bother with the emotional go bag

Saying I love you like grabbing the passports

Just let the metallic rattle rip

The air from the cabin and suck me out into the sky

The pressure ends my knowing

Even before my body is actually gone

The thought of the loud gone silent

And the cold

And the destination I won’t make it to

I don’t surrender I am not that easily calmed
