POEM 👏 A 👏DAY

14 years for me, I still think I'm new, I still think about how many poems I wrote about my back and
how this is concerning because it snowed more when I started and I'd be out there all hours doing my
tiny shovel work and taking 20 minutes to get my five layers off and half-heartedly doing crunches on what have must have been a truly disgusting shag carpet I only vacuumed once a month and then complaining to the various people who have drifted in and out of here about my back. And I love it, I
really do even though this is perhaps the second or third year in a row where I haven't tried to string
together vague thematic components into something where I could peer back in after a while and
think ooh I was really invested in thinking about my relationship to-

I still think about Mariposa a lot and was tickled to
discover this was largely a Craigslist enterprise,
I've only tried to use Craiglist to sell some glass shelving
and to find a similarly tall person to slow dance with,
which led to a response but maybe you don't respond
to someone who responded to that at 1am
but perhaps I should have demanded they
responded in stanzas.

I would give anything, anything at all
to stand in front of the
Times Square news ticker
and see all the usernames since 2011,
ah from before as well, dealer's choice,
the usernames skate before me,
dot matrix in perpetuity,
no names of anything else,
no context,
no nothing.

Songs for Gay Dogs

At Mudam at the moment

there’s an exhibit called

Songs for Gay Dogs

by Cosima von Bonin.

Hard to think of better names

or ones more suited

to each other.

There’s a pair of pieces each

depicting Bambi in cloth:

textile tableaux with tartan

and the words “Love

Bombing” and “Gaslighting”

respectively. One German

magazine calls it Toxic

Cuteness. I asked the person

on the tour photographing

everything why they did it.

“To send to my sister back

in Kyiv.” Then I wait

while they search for a photo

from their reel: a building back home

hit by a bomb, streaming gas

past the streetlights in a way

I can’t help but feel

is rather quite artistic.
