She's in time-out

To peel back skin and crack open skull to get a peek get a glimpse, what is happening in there, does it sound like mine, how does yours work? What about hers what about theirs what about

Mine is no good mines got bugs whirring and dark deepening, here do you want to see hold my hair back I’ll show you the muck I’ll play you the twisted tapes tell me what you think be honest, is it bad am I bad??

I forgot about the midnight kiss

You’re biting my foot with slow approach and soft teeth tender a quiet nibble

Happy new yearssss c’mere you say

I'm cooking us a dutch baby you like mushrooms right I'm stealing syrup from your plate you’re offering to wash the big bowls and one day we are supposed to just …stop?

We're shooting hoops I want to practice my fade away I'm fascinated by how people can push something forward while their body floats back in space and I'm thinking i’ll never push you away but maybe that’s how it ends with one of those harnesses yanking me from behind like a Hollywood stunt into abyss or another soft cushion but not hard because if this were hard that would make it real

You remembered to kiss me

Fireworks, our motif

Good luck to us both

My climate anxiety is raging

Im not sure

I want to know this world

Where even the most resourced

The Beautiful Ones

Fall to the wind

Where we’ve hurt Her so bad

She’s breathing fire down our backs

Bittered beyond return

Run but you can’t hide

She’s cooking out of control

Again and again she rips and roars

And twists and spits acid and dumps buckets of water in our faces she’s screaming STOP

HELP

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME

Home by dark

We’re heading home

Me, and the crows

I bike west beneath them

Thousands of us

Strength in numbers

Time to roost, night is nigh

I peel off and wonder

What it might be like

To have a flock expecting me

Home by dark

Om or something like it

In 2015 I bought my yoga mat

From the tj maxx on market street in philly

Thats a decade of mountains and rag dolls

Inhaling to lengthen

Exhaling to fold

Extending and twisting and walking out my dog

A decade of being told to give gratitude to myself for showing up

Of white women saying namaste

Of sweat, silence, flow

In 2014 my professor had a heart attack

She survived and told us all to start doing yoga now

Cardiac arrest seems like a nice quick way to go, if I get to choose…

Lately im finding that silent unity

Collective non-interaction with mirrored action

Is the safest way for me to be witnessed

Anonymous, but belonging

Each day I ask

“What would make this existence tolerable?”

And damn, do I love a good hot stretch

In a room of strangers

So again I unroll my dark purple space

And care for this body as if I love her
